About
Jenny Dennis started baking when she was just a kid growing up in Sharonville, Ohio. “While all the kids were outside playing, I’d always be in the house baking with Eve,” Jenny says. Eve Friend was a dear friend of the family who was always baking bread and rolling cookies in her house on Oak Street. Eve didn’t mind the mess cooking created and that’s where Jenny truly learned to love baking. Later, in nearby Glendale, her godmother, who was in a wheelchair, had a kitchen customized to fit her needs making everything easily accessible for young Jenny. As a frequent visitor, her dream of having her own bakery continued to grow in that kitchen.
In 1983, Jenny attended the Culinary Arts Academy. From there she went on to work in hotels, restaurants and as a caterer. Looking for something new, she opened Bluebird Bakery in 1996. Promising herself that she would only go through with it, if she could maintain a “from scratch bakery,” she had no doubts it would work.
She never dreamed, however, it would work so well! In fact, in 2001, an addition was added to the bakery and from there the quaint Bakery in historic Glendale, Ohio, continued to gain notoriety and popularity.
In October of 2009, Jenny again expanded the building and the business, opening the Bluebird Bakery & Café, adding breakfast and lunch items to the menu, including soups, sandwiches and salads
